The Clarity OpEx Foundation is an intensive, on-site session designed to take your in-house teams through a multi-module overview of Lean tools and techniques.

We engage and develop teams to help then understand and effectively deploy Lean. In short: this course sparks a passion for continuous improvement and reveals the tools to make Lean work.

Why engage teams? Employer employees to take ownership of performance and create a culture of continuous improvement. The Clarity approach permanently changes ‘the way we do things around here’ while using time-tested Lean techniques to drive business success.

In Operational Excellence the focus is on making teams part of business growth. As a result employee can see the flow of value to the customer and fix that flow before it breaks down. Why invest in creating an engaged team?

  • Better communication of the standards needed
  • Team involvement in ‘how things are done’
  • Clarity of the reason WHY processes are in place
  • Visibility of the link between their work and business results
  • Improvements can be rewarded

Because strategies are an important part of how a business works, how these are deployed in an organisation can have a big impact on the results they create. A methodical approach to what was formerly ‘launching a plan’ means a process aligning an organisation’s goals with strategic objectives then promoting the strategy in a more efficient way.

For example, better strategy deployment can support dialogue between senior management and project teams to produce input, for their part, into what is needed to achieve targets. More advantages?

  • Suggestions are encouraged from team members
  • Input plays an active role in making achievements happen
  • Goals are identified
  • Policies are linked to these clear goals
  • The purpose of the improvements remains in focus for all
  • Engagement from multiple levels of an organisation

Why performance management? Simple: Finding and addressing waste in performance is an investment in driving powerful improvements by doing this in a better way for clear, value-driven reasons.

Avoiding rework, low quality and lack of motivation are among the wastes a business can manage out. The result? A driving force behind continuous improvement and a factor in not just increased efficiency but also competitive edge. The benefits of performance management?

  • Identify and remove wastes
  • Improved visibility of performance
  • Helps communication of performance with employees
  • A measure for feedback and accountability
  • Focuses team members on business goals
  • Part of a culture of continuous improvement

What happens when team members work in the right way for the right reasons plus understand the organisational, project and process goals needed for success? Powerful results are created in a business.

The impact can be dramatic when employees work with a clear focus on organisation goals, are engaged with new processes and stay committed to continuous improvement. Creating a high-performance work team means:

  • A group of people focussed on the right goals
  • Recognition of the value of their individual skills
  • Improved collaboration
  • A culture of innovation
  • Clear indicators of success
  • Individual accountability for performance expectations

Why Clarity?

The first step towards performance that will help your business smash targets.

The work Clarity has done for our site has revolutionised the way we operate our lines; staff are actually communicating with one another and we’re all using the data and hard facts shown in the KPI boards to make decisions.

Paul Mann - Hub Operations Manager, DPD

Working with Clarity as a partnership really works for me; you’re open to different challenges and the team that I work with have been really responsive, they’ve also come up with some ideas which I’d not thought of. I see myself as an expert in visual management but you guys have still managed to teach me some things.

Craig Wilkinson – Network Rail

Thanks to Clarity, we follow all our KPI’s through visual management. Alongside the manufacturing successes we’re seeing with Clarity’s visual management, we’ve also seen a 30% reduction in our general waste and are saving £40,000 a year on one part of our waste management visual solutions through standardising our processes.

Steve Lomax – Crown Paints

Clarity’s solutions have played an important part in our visualisation success in Network Rail’s LNE, and are essential to the programme. Clarity supported us to reduce our Operations and Maintenance expenditure from £180,000,000 to £166,000,000. That’s a £14,000,000 saving! We also saw a 20% reduction on workforce and irregular working accidents and general performance across operators on the East Coast Mainline has improved.

Phil Verster, Managing Director of LNE
