What is Mighty Line floor marking tape?

Mighty Line floor marking tape is a heavy-duty, USA-manufactured floor marking tape designed for the busiest warehouses and factories. At over 1.3 mm thick, this tape is almost seven times thicker than many budget-grade tapes. Mighty Line tape also has an adhesive layer on the backside, which is two to three times thicker than most other tapes, and has high durability and hardness to prevent premature wear and tear.

Why should you consider using Mighty Line floor Marking Tape?

If you are looking to use floor marking tape in your warehouse or factory, there are several reasons why you should consider Mighty Line floor marking tape. These include:

  •  An extra-thick adhesive layer to ensure good adhesion to most floors.
This means the tape will last considerably longer, whereas traditional tapes peel up or curl at the edges.
  • Extremely high stiffness in the horizontal plane.

Often, traditional tapes will snag or catch on the edge of a pallet, whereas Mighty Line tape offers extremely high toughness.

  • If you have ever spent time trying to remove adhesive residue from your floor, you will truly value the clean peel properties of Mighty Line tape. This means it will peel up cleanly, leaving no adhesive residue behind, aided by the reinforcement within the adhesive layer.
  • If you have ever seen yellow and black hazard tape worn out so that only the yellow print is left on the tape, you will also appreciate that Mighty Line tape is printed on the underside of a clear coat layer, meaning that floor scrubbers and equipment cannot wear the print layer away.
  • Finally, our favorite feature is the easy-to-clean properties.

This feature is frequently commented on by many customers, and one of the first things they notice, especially in a busy or dirty warehouse, is how easy it is to clean and how bright the tape is once it has been cleaned. This is due to the high surface hardness of the tape, which prevents dirt ingress and scuffs from appearing on the surface.

How do you test mighty line tape for it suitability for your process?

All of the benefits and features are significant, and there are many companies across the UK now seeing the advantages of using Mighty Line tape. However, Mighty Line tape is also a high-cost product. At over £100 per roll, you need to be sure that Mighty Line tape will deliver on all its benefits. So, how do we test this?

The first thing we need to understand is what we are trying to prove or improve. If you are currently using floor marking tapes and have to replace them every month or so, then we agree that if the Mighty Line floor tape looks as good as when it was applied after two months, it’s a success, right?

There is no point in conducting a floor marking tape trial in an area of your warehouse that sees little or no traffic. The best test for all the Mighty Line floor tape is in your highest traffic area, where your forklift trucks can give it a beating.

Having spent many years conducting trials and tests of different types in many industrial applications, it is critical to understand what success looks like before undertaking a trial.

Evaluating the results

In a recent trial at one of the world's largest logistics organizations, we conducted a significant trial of the Mighty Line floor marking tape. The pass-fail criteria for the tape was three weeks; if we could surpass just three weeks without the tape lifting, peeling, or coming away, then the trial would be a huge success. The incumbent supplier's product was just £7 per roll, it was 170 µm thick and lasted on average just two weeks. Because the tape only lasted two weeks, the cost of the tape was immaterial; however, the cost and downtime of peeling up the old tape, cleaning up the residue, and reapplying new tape far outweighed any cost savings with the tape. We’re pleased to announce that the floor tape trial was a huge success, and they have gone on to become one of our biggest users of Mighty Line tape. But the key to a successful trial is to have a clean floor.

Is Mighty Line tape the right tape choice for you?

There are some factories and warehouses in the UK that experience very little traffic, especially vehicle movements, where a budget grey tape could last up to 6 months. While these tapes will wear out, leave an adhesive residue, and could snag on a pallet being dragged over them, most of the time, this type of tape may be suitable for you. However, if you have a high-traffic environment and your current tape is barely lasting months, and you understand the true cost of having to replace old tape, then Mighty Line tape could be an excellent option for you.
